The eco2050 Institute for Sustainability
The Institute for Sustainability was founded in 2012 as a spin-off of the Chair of Information Systems at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
We offer individualised sustainability and CSR services specialising in training, research and consulting.
Our core competences:
- Consultancy with a focus on: Preparation of CSRD compliant sustainability reports according to the European ESRS standard, CO2 footprint calculations (Scope 1, 2 and 3), water, land and waste footprint
- Research on sustainability & digitalisation (including sustainable data centres, sustainable algorithms, sustainable AI)
- Seminars on many different sustainability topics (e.g. sustainability regulation (CSRD, EU Taxonomy, EU Green Deal, Climate Change Act), sustainable finance, sustainable construction)

Our philosophy
The Institute was founded on the idea that we all have a social responsibility (CSR = Corporate Social Responsibility) towards future generations (i.e. our children and grandchildren) and towards our planet Earth. Developments on earth show that economic activity still leads to high environmental consumption and the exploitation of resources, but there are already many positive examples that show that things can be done differently.
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Our vision is a world in which all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are realised. This requires even more commitment. We are already starting today and offer all likeminded people the following opportunities to get involved:

Our seminars
Seminar – Basics in Sustainability
The “Basics in Sustainability” seminar provides basic knowledge to understand sustainability in its entirety in the company (economic, ecological, social and technological) and to implement it in clear strategies and fields of action.
CO2 footprint of products and companies (PCF and CCF)
The seminar provides the necessary expertise to calculate the carbon footprint of a product, a project or the entire company. All relevant greenhouse gas emissions are converted into CO2 equivalents according to their impact.
Sustainability reporting
What standards and certificates are there for sustainability reporting? Which companies are obliged to do so? This seminar provides an overview of the various options for writing sustainability reports.
